Lakewood Kitchen Remodel | Harrisonburg, VA

The Lakewood Kitchen remodel transformed an outdated, dark kitchen into a brighter and more functional space designed around the way the homeowners use their home. The original kitchen included worn cabinetry and dated wallpaper, and a wall limited the connection between the kitchen and adjoining living space. Removing that wall was an important part of the renovation, opening up the floor plan and creating room for a much larger kitchen with improved storage, workspace, and seating. At the center of the new design is an oversized island that gives the homeowners generous room for meal prep while also creating a comfortable place to gather. Storage was carefully incorporated into both sides of the island, allowing its larger footprint to work harder without overwhelming the room. Natural wood cabinetry at the island introduces warmth and contrast against the lighter perimeter cabinetry, while the existing hardwood flooring helps carry that warmth throughout the space. Around the perimeter, white inset cabinetry extends toward the ceiling to make better use of the available space and provide ample kitchen storage. A soft green tile backsplash adds color and character, continuing behind the cooking area where a custom wood range hood creates a distinctive focal point. A wall-mounted pot filler, under-cabinet lighting, stainless steel appliances, and an under-mount sink with a pull-down faucet add practical details for everyday use. The movement and variation in the stone countertops tie together the mix of warm wood, soft cabinetry, and green tile. The finished Harrisonburg, VA kitchen remodel feels considerably more open than the kitchen it replaced while still making thoughtful use of every available area for cabinetry, countertop space, and storage. A few years later, when the homeowners returned to Venture Builders, Inc. for their primary and guest bathroom remodels, selections were made with this kitchen in mind, carrying elements of the home's established design into the newly renovated spaces.
